Why “resin cost” isn't your print cost

A slicer tells you material usage, but a sellable resin print also consumes wash solution, release film, electricity, machine life and hands-on time. Failed attempts raise the average cost of every successful print. ResinMetrics combines those costs and then accounts for selling fees so you can see the economics per unit.

For hobbyists

Understand what a plate costs before committing resin and machine time.

For Etsy & marketplace sellers

Test prices against fees, packaging and labour instead of pricing from resin alone.

For print farms

Model unit economics now; saved products, batch planning and farm capacity are next.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the calculator?

It is only as accurate as the inputs. Resin usage and print time can come from your slicer; machine life, failure rate and consumable allocations are estimates you can tune to your own workflow.

Why include failed prints?

Failures consume resin, machine time and consumables without creating a sellable unit. ResinMetrics converts your failure rate into the expected extra production cost carried by successful prints.

Should I include my own labour?

If you sell prints, usually yes. Washing, support removal, curing, cleanup, packing and admin consume time even when the printer itself is automated.

Does this include tax or VAT?

You can optionally enter a VAT or sales-tax percentage to model tax included in the selling price. This is an economics estimate, not tax advice; your actual tax treatment depends on your country and circumstances.
